How bad is the U.S. economy?

I have been reading a lot of doomsday scenarios on how bad the U.S. economy is in and I'm wondering what other think of it?

Here's one I read recently by a Swedish writer (which appealed to me because I think it might be more objective) that paints a pretty bleak picture. On the other hand, I read a book called Bankruptcy 1995 that called the U.S. economic collapse...

I know this is a corney topic but I saw this really great movie last week that you might like. It is There Will Be Blood written and directed by Paul Michael Thomas, starring Daniel Day Lewis.

It was an absolute killer flic. The acting is as good as I have seen in a loooong time and the story line is, maybe not great, but thought provoking. PMT is better than (or at least as good as) Stanley Kubrick when it comes to attention to detail. Excellent movie.
