What's with the intrusive advertising that now appears at the top of the first page of every thread in the forum?! Whose idea was this?!!CODOH hasn't

The ads have appeared because the contributions making the board ad-free ran out. Scott and I will try to find out how much is needed to make the forum ad-free again for a decent period of time, and let everyone know. Everyone should thank Bankdraft for his recent contribution otherwise the ads would have appeared probably at the end of last year some time. I remember from when I made a contribution on the 'old' ezBoard setup that you can use a PayPal account, and I know I have a little money in mine. Edit: when I made a contribution before it was when I became an ezBoard supporter, which had knock-on benefits for ad-free page views.

I just kicked in $30 to the chest. I did not realize that the subscription had run out because my Mozilla Firefox browser blocks pop-up ads.

Are you guys still getting the ads? If the problem was lack of contributions, it seems they (the ads) should have gone away with the new cash infusion? Do I
need to do something else?

OK, Mr Fish raised this on another thread - who is and who is not still getting ads?
More than enough has been added to the kitty to give us ad-free viewing for months. Many thanks to Mr Albert Fish, whodareswings, neugierig and Scott for contributing to this. I have just played around with settings and theoretically, anyone with more than 300 posts should now have 'exception' status from seeing ads, but whether this sticks remains to be seen. If you have cleared cookies, logged out, shut down your browser and your computer, and stopped getting ads, please let us know, as much as if you did nothing and stopped getting them, as much as if you did all that and still got them. |

Well, for whatever reason my ads (appear to) have stopped.
I had them when I posted about 30 minutes ago and I didn't do anything (like clear cookies or anything like that) soooo... anyway, all's well that ends well. |

I am now free of those damned adverts whilst logged in as Mr Fish. I thought our contributions made this place ad free for everyone?

I just tried it with a different computer while logged out and I was getting the ads. The ads go away when I log in. Now that we are paid up, I don't think
the ads should be visible even when someone is not logged in to their account. I'll ask Yuku about it.
